I am very excited to announce some upcoming concerts in October that I have been looking forward to all year! It's been a busy summer practicing and preparing for these, and I hope to see some familiar faces at these shows.
October 17 - 8PM - The Rose Theatre in Brampton Friedrich Gulda's Cello Concerto with wind orchestra is one of the most amazing and enjoyable pieces in the cello repertoire. It's very rarely performed, which is odd to me because it is such a crowd pleaser and fun (and challenging) to play for the soloist. Ranging from Rock, to Classical, to Marching Band, this piece covers a range of genres and keeps the audience guessing as to where it will go next. This should be a great evening of music, and I really enjoy working with the musicians in Brampton. Following this concert I will be playing in the pit orchestra for Mary Poppins with Brampton Music Theatre with many of the same musicians from the BCB. For the record, the silhouette cellist in the poster with the funky bow hold is not me... |
October 24 - 8PM - Trinity Anglican Church October 25 - 3PM - Richmond Hill Centre A standard of the classical cello repertoire, the Haydn C Major Cello Concerto is a beautiful piece and a joy to play as the soloist. I'm looking forward to working with Denis Mastromonaco and the York Symphony Orchestra once again to perform this work. Sibelius' Finlandia and Symphony No. 2 are also on the program and are absolute masterpieces, so if you needed any more convincing that should do the trick! |
